Childcare vouchers

Most employers will operate their childcare voucher scheme via 'salary sacrifice'. As long as your cash salary does not go below the National Minimum Wage, you can choose to take Childcare Vouchers up to the value of £2,916 a year as part of your package. If you accept Childcare Vouchers as a portion of your salary (up to £55 per week or £243 a month) you do not have to pay National Insurance Contributions (NIC) or Tax on that amount. So your remaining wages are greater after paying for your childcare with vouchers than if you had paid in cash.
Each parent that takes their maximum allowance can save up to £1,196 per year. Exactly how much you save depends on how much tax and National Insurance you pay.

Please ask your nursery manager for more information.

Financial help may be available in the form of tax credits/support for students and young parents

Early Years Funding

Previously known as the Nursery Education Grant. The Early Years Funding Scheme is available to each child at nursery in the term after their 3rd birthday. It is term time only (38 weeks ). The maximum number of hours a parent can claim is 15 hours per week for 38 weeks. The rate at what funding is, is set by the Local Authorities and maybe subject to change.

The Early Years Funding includes all nursery care and is inclusive of meals and snacks.

When your child is eligible, the nursery will request that you sign a Parent Declaration at the beginning of each new term.Children are eligible from the term after they turn 3 years old to the term they attend school.

Any sessions taken that are over and above the 15 hours Early Years Funding will be charged at our normal nursery rate. Any additional sessions must be agreed in advance, with the nursery manager.

We also accept two year old funding to see if you are eligible please contact the nursery and we can do a quick online check.

Registration Fee & Deposit

A registration fee of £40.00 and a deposit equivalent to one month’s fees is payable prior to starting the setting.  Should the payment of one month’s deposit prove to be a financial burden a second option is available for parents who are looking to start in the next four weeks. Parents pay the registration fee as normal, but pay only half of the required deposit with the remainder divided into three or six monthly instalments and paid with the monthly nursery fees until the full amount has been secured.

An invoice will be sent out to you around the 20th of each month. Fees are payable monthly in advance by direct debit, cash or cheque. Cleared funds should reach the nursery account on the 1st of each month. Children, who start part way through a month, will receive an invoice from their start date, and up to the end of that month. This invoice will require payment (cash/cheque/internet banking) by no later than the first day of attendance at the nursery. The Nursery Managers have been instructed to refuse admission of new children, where the above paperwork has not been completed properly.

Where a deposit is paid it will be held until your child leaves the nursery. Please provide us with one calendar months notice in writing of your attention to leave the nursery.

Please note that if your child does not attend nursery once the place has been accepted, we will enforce the payment of the first month’s fees, or we will retain the deposit.

First Steps also reserve the right to give one calendar months notice in writing to any parent, where we would like to terminate the childcare arrangement. However if there are outstanding nursery fees First Steps have the right to termintae the placement without notice.

Providing that all fees are up to date First Steps will refund all deposits within 4 weeks of actual leaving date.

Changes to your attendance pattern

At the time of registration, you will be asked to decide on the number of days/sessions you wish your child to attend the nursery. You will be sent a letter of confirmation which confirms the start date and the days booked. Changes thereafter must be requested through the Nursery Manager, and these will be considered according to nursery availability. If you wish to reduce days immediately, we reserve the right to continue the normal monthly charge for a period of one month. However, if we are able to replace your days with another child, we will reduce your invoice.

In cases where additional/one-off care is required during the month, please request with the Nursery Manager who will offer you additional sessions at their discretion. Any such additional sessions will be billed to you in the normal manner in line with the fees above.

Extra hours requested where children attend mornings or afternoons only, will be considered by the Nursery Manager on availability and where agreed will be billed as a full day attended.

Late Collection Fees

We understand that occasionally situations arise which necessitate late arrival at the nursery for child collection. If you anticipate your arrival will be after 6.00pm you must notify the Nursery Manager by 5.00pm that day to ensure the appropriate cover can be arranged. In all cases, children may not be left after 6.00 pm as this contravenes registration and our insurance.

Late collection will incur an additional fixed fee of £10 for every ten minutes you are late. Children attending the morning session must be collected by 12pm or the late charges will apply. This will be billed in the normal manner. Persistent offenders will not be tolerated, and where necessary we will enforce our right to give the parent one months notice to leave the nursery.

Payment Terms

The monthly billing is completed around the 20th of each month, with the target of ensuring that all invoices are with parents before the end of the month. These monthly invoices are payable monthly in advance by the 1st of the following month. It is your responsibility to ensure payments are made in full and on time.

In the event that a direct debit or cheque presented for fees is returned unpaid by your bank, a £12 administration charge will be applied to your account.

Continual late payments may result in the termination of your child’s place at the nursery without notice.

Discounts and Refunds

If a sibling of an existing child joins the nursery, a discount of 10% will be given on the oldest child’s fees (including full time rates).

We are unable to give any reduction in fees in respect of sickness or holidays, this also includes inset training days and Bank Holidays.

No refunds will be given if your child fails to attend any sessions as pre-booked by you at the start of each month. Neither will refunds be given in the event of nursery closure due to ‘Acts of God’ or environmental factors beyond the control of the nursery.

Hourly Rate £7.50 (additional to sessions)
